Mozart’s Music Program

Most children who play or sing music regularly perform better in reading and math, when they begin elementary school. Playing, singing and dancing to music increases fine and gross motor skills and helps develop hand-eye coordination. The children through participation will be able to better control their bodies.

Children actively involved in music also tend to have high self-esteem and are better at playing with others. Many studies have shown that music enhances learning skills, such as the acquisition of language, listening, math skills, auditory discrimination, social understanding, and personal discovery. Our objective is to offer children an introductory course in music in an environment that is fun and nurturing. Our goal is to hopefully inspire a passion for music in every child.

Our music program will provide:

  • Repetition that reinforces learning
  • Rhythmic beats that enhance coordination
  • Patterns that help in anticipating what comes next
  • Melodies that capture our attention and hearts in enjoyment
  • Words that are the building blocks of language and literacy

Our music program will help develop verbal, musical, academic, socialization, artistic and listening skills, emotional well-being, physical coordination, awareness and balance as well as relationship skills such as sharing and taking turns.

One Year Olds:
Children will repeat rhythmic patterns. Teachers will show toddlers how to play on age-appropriate instruments. Each instrument will be presented with a simple and direct explanation of its use and its particular sound. As the children play various instruments, they will hear and wonder at the different sounds each instrument produces. Instinctively, they will begin to associate the sound with the instrument.

Repetition at this age is essential. The sheer joy children take in repeating newly acquired skills gives them a feeling of success. At this age, children begin to develop their language skills, and try to sing sounds to music, sometimes using formed words.
